A conversation with the founder of Mind Medicine Australia.
My recent interview with the founder of Mind Medicine Australia, Tania de Jong, was truly amazing!
Tania is one of the 100 most influential people in psychedelics across the world. My conversation with her was fascinating. We explored the world of psychedelics and how it's been having incredible results helping people through trauma, when used with guided therapy. Tania and Mind Medicine are doing remarkable work in a field that is maybe to some of us, a little left of centre, working to ensure that some psychedelics, namely Psilocybin and MDMA become legalised within Australia for therapeutic purposes.
Tania became interested in the resurgence in the psychedelic research field after searching for ways to manage her own mental health and wellbeing. Now she is on a mission to help alleviate the suffering caused by mental illness in Australia.
In this conversation you will hear about the statistics and what has been achieved in clinical trials around the world. As well as how these medicines, combined with therapy have been having a profound impact on people who are suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety and even eating disorders.
Tania walks us through her first psychedelic experience and how it transformed her. Since then, with the support of her partner Peter, she has set out on a quest to bring this therapeutic experience to the forefront, fighting to make it available in a safe and legal setting. Which around the world is not an easy task to accomplish.
In the podcast we explore together:
3.54 Tanya’s story and how she came to find psychedelics and establish Mind Medicine Australia after hearing @MichaelPollan and @TimFerriss discussing the ‘Trip treatment'.
8.40 How she discovered and took part in the medicinal trials in Europe.
18.50 We talk about the ways the treatments reconnect neural pathways.
20.45 Our discussion takes us deep into the effect of psychedelics on PTSD veterans and how assisted therapy treatments have had success.
26.18 We talk about the ‘renaissance' of psychedelics and how society is stuck in the thinking of the past around these plant medicines, with opinions based on history that are not necessarily relevant in the present day.
52.00 How Australia has the potential to lead the way in this space.
Open your mind to this conversation, it's truly mind blowing.
NB: this is a research-based conversation. Remi Pearson and #Perspectives in no way advocates for the use of illegal drugs. Mind Medicine Australia does not encourage or facilitate illegal use of psychedelics or plant medicine.
